CREATING AWARENESS: Awareness Programme on Product Certification held

A view of one day Awareness Programme on Product Certification was held in the premises of MSME –DI, Ludhiana on Tuesday.

Ludhiana, December 11, 2012: One day Awareness Programme on Product Certification was held today in the premises of MSME –DI, Ludhiana to disseminate information on up gradation of quality of the products being manufactured by the industry.

Representatives of different associations such as United Cycle and Parts Manufacturers Association (UCPMA) and Sewing Machine and Auto Parts have participated in this programme. About 30 participants attended the programme

At the outset, Rajarshi Maji, Assistant Director, MSME, briefed about the product certification scheme and its subsidy.

S.S. Dhillon, Director MSME in his presidential speech said it is the need of the hour to upgrade the quality of the products, so as to compete the international market.  He also informed that it is mandatory to implement the standards of the products manufactured for survival of the enterprise and be in the business.  He felt that industries do not follow the standardised quality of the products. 

B.S. Nagi, Assistant Director MSME informed the usage of product certification and motivated the industry to get product certification as the government is making is mandatory in their procurements. He also highlighted the other schemes of Ministry of MSME and asked the member to avail benefits.

Ram Charan Das, Assistant Director, BIS, Chandigarh was delegate speech on product certification. He detailed the procedure on how to get the product certification and explained the fee structure and other formalities involved in getting product.  Application for license to use the Standard Mark has been circulated to industry.

Gurmeet Singh Kular, President, UCPMA thanked to  Dhillon for launch of awareness programme on Product Certification as presently they are manufacturing  the products but there is need to identify products through it quality technically. He urged his member to get the benefits of quality certification.

Pankaj Arora, President, Ludhiana Sewing Machine Dealer and Assembler Association informed that their industry is lacking in quality products. “We are hopeful that by getting product certification, the value of the products shall increase”, he hoped.

Sat Pal, a representative of industry informed that they are lacking on quality of the products.  He said that some of the companies are marketing their product certification, but do not implement the certification in true spirit. 

Kulwant Singh, General Secretary, Sewing Machine development Club said that their members are interested to get the product certification/ISI. He added they are lacking in quality from China.
