Chandigarh, November 4, 2015: Mr.Som Parkash, Chief Parliament Secretary of Local Government today brought to the notice of Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab, Mr.Sukhbir Singh Badal the problems being faced by the industry and traders of Phagwara with regard to sales tax department and sought early redress of their grievances.
In a communiqué to Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Som Parkash highlighted the four stage VAT refund verification on purchase and termed it unjustified. He said that this order was being implemented by verbal orders and traders were not given any hearing while making deduction from the VAT refund. He also pointed out that for the last six month no VAT refund has been made by the department and Industry is facing lot of problems.
The Chief Parliament Secretary also suggested that 75 percent of the refund against indemnity bond scheme should be restarted. He also sought on-line issuing of C-Forms as being done by others States. He also pointed out that the department was issuing notice to the business firms for the year 2008-09. He said that industry was feeling harassed for notices of assessment issued for last seven years and requested this may be brought down three years frame.
