Jalandhar, August 29, 2015: Chief Parliamentary Secretary for sports Mr.Pawan Kumar Teenu today honoured 405 sportspersons, who won medals at National and international level in various sports spheres, by distributing cash prizes worth Rs. 1 Crore 63 Thousands during a Sports function organized by Punjab Sports Department to Observe National Sports Day here today.
After hounouring these sportspersons from Jalandhar and Kapurthala districts, Mr. Teenu in his address said that Punjab government has constructed 14 Ultra Modern sports Stadiums in Punjab so as to give fillip to the sports infrastructure in the state. He also revealed that apart from this the state government has also decided to construct sports stadiums in all 145 blocks in Punjab.
Mr. Teenu said that with a sole aim to boost morale of sportspersons who won medals at national and international levels, SAD-BJP government hounoured sportspersons with cash prizes of worth Rs. 15.34 Crore in this present year during a mega sports function held near Jalandhar. `` In order to make the future of sportspersons safe and secure Punjab Government is also providing job opportunities to the players with markable performances at National and International sports arena, added Teenu.
Amongst those present during this function were included District Planning Committee Chairman Mr. Gurcharan Singh Channi, ADC Mr. Girish Diyalan, Assistant Sports Director Mr. Kartar Singh, DSO Mr. Rakesh Kaushal.
