Jalandhar, October 29, 2015: Games play a vital role in overall development of a human being. Indoor and outdoor games are equally important. Chess is a game of mind and concentration which has maintained its popularity and interest even with the present generation. A very promising student of our school, Dushyant Sharma has made the school proud by a  achieving remarkable feat  in an International Chess event .
Dushyant Sharma participated in an International Chess Tournament which was held in Las Vegas in USA from 8.10.15 - 13.10.15 in which he performed exceedingly well. He was awarded a Cash prize of US $5000 for winning the tournament. He was also declared as The Best Player in U-13 category  below 1800 rating. Dushyant  performed to the best of his capability and won the coveted position . The effort put in by Dushyant was appreciated by all the participants also.
Expressing his feelings regarding the Millionaire Chess Tournament , he stated that “It was a great experience to play at Planet Hollywood, Las Vegas, USA. There were 98 players from all over world in the Millionaire Chess Tournament and I waded my way to the top by giving a tough fight to all my opponents. Not even once was I shaken at the thought of my battle of chess against my opponents who were more than thrice my age and went up to 60 yrs. For my success I thank God, my parents, my school authorities and of course my coach, Vishal sir”
This outstanding achievement  has made Dushyant  stand out and earn praise from everybody.
First national player of Chess of CIS, Coed (2009), Dushyant started playing the game at the age of 5 (Kindergaten-2).His continued interest in the game made him proficient enough to play  Chess Nationals in U-7, U-9, U-11 ,U-13 & U-15 categories.  He is a member of winner team CBSE North Zone Team Championship U-14 Category (2012-2014) which has  consecutively won the events three times .He has thrice been declared as  the  Best player of CBSE North Zone in U- 14 Category also .A  feather to his cap was his being  declared as the CBSE National Best Player 2013 (U-14 Category).
On this occasion, Chairman of the school  Mr. Ajay Bhatia, Deputy Chairman Mr. Deepak Bhatia Chairman Learning Wings Mr. J.K Kohli, Dr Brijesh, Mr. Nitin Kohli, Academic Director Ms Deepa Dogra and Principal mam Ms. Kiranjoth Dhillon appreciated  Dushyant   for such whole- hearted involvement in the game . They advised him to keep putting in so much effort regularly also so that he can continue to outshine others in all the events to come.
They also extended their congratulations to the Sports Department, especially the School Chess  Coach Mr. Bharat Bhushan for his  selfless service and the hard work put in by him and the Sports department in training  Dushyant to such a level of excellence.
