Chandigarh, July 31, 2015: Families in which young would be brides are about to tie the nuptial knot, Bridal Trousseau collection has started. The Wedding Season has started and is slated to pick up in September & October. Keeping the latest trends in mind Rupam K Grewal who owns the Wedding Haute Couture brand Jaamawar Minx, presented her Wedding Collection at her designer store in Elante Mall. The same is formed by an eclectic mix of beautiful Lehengas, Sarees, Lehenga Sarees and Kabalas etc.
Rupam invited a pretty to be bride Vibhuti, who is a graduate of Berkley College & a lawyer practicing in the Supreme Court of India, to her store to show what’s in this season. “There is a trend being witnessed these days where families want to own such pieces of wedding couture that are both expensive and have a Royal feel to them. It was a culture in Royal families to treat bridal Wedding Couture as heirloom treasure which was passed on from one generation to another. Now, with higher expendable incomes and a desire to experiment, upper middle class & rich Indians are doing the same. If a Gold Jewellery set can be passed on from one generation to another then why not a wedding dress.” Says Rupam.
Rupam has created Heirloom pieces for her clients in her latest Wedding Ensemble. The beautiful pieces were showcased by Vibhuti through her Heirloom Trousseau that consisists of two Lehengas, a Saree, and an intricate Gotta Patti work based long Shirt with Palazzo. Though she wore a ravishing red Saree that reflected exquisite dori work, the Lehenga was the centre of attraction. The Lehenga is amazingly rich in taste and has been created by Rupam Grewal with a lot of care & effort. The Wedding day Lehenga is unique as it’s been specially made on the Temple theme with ‘Temple Pillars’ used as motifs. The same has been made using pure Silver thread, Polki Diamonds, Garnets (which are semi-precious stones). Vibhuti’s marriage is a destination wedding & is taking place at a temple in Palampur, Himachal Pradesh. “My mother had worn a very traditional as well as royal piece of Lehenga made out of pure silver threads in her wedding; she wanted me to also adorn a Lehenga that was made using precious stones. Something that could be passed on by me to the coming generations—An Heirloom Wedding Couture piece, just like we do with Gold & Ornaments.”
On her outlook for the upcoming Wedding season, Rupam says that there is shift towards Lehnga Sarees being witnessed. Her take is that a lot of experimentation is being done by both designers and clients. She feels that Designer Lehengas, Lehenga Sarees etc are being created that have a lot of emotional & market value; as these are being made using precious metals & stones. Rupam thinks that the idea is to be proud owners of Heirloom pieces of Bridal Wedding attires. It is noteworthy that Rupam has been instrumental in bringing the humble Patiala Salwar centre stage, by developing a stunning piece of creativity & design – the famed Jaamawar Minx Salwar.
