CORRUPTION AND MALPRACTICES: VB launches awareness campaign

Chandigarh, October 30, 2012: The Vigilance Bureau Punjab has directed to its field officers to educate the public about the concerted efforts being made by the bureau in weeding out the corruption from public offices and its functions during the vigilance awareness week being observed from October 29 to November 3 in the state. The week was being observed in accordance with the directions from the Central Vigilance Commission, on the theme ‘transparency in public procurement’.

Disclosing this here today, Suesh Arora, DGP-cum-Chief Director Vigilance Bureau Punjab said that the special awareness campaign would also inspire the officers to implement preventive measures effectively so that transparency and accountability could be maintained during the investigations. "The basic motto of this week was to create a corruption free society under the theme of transparency in public procurement", he added.

He further informed that the SSP's of various vigilance ranges would organise functions in rural and urban areas to educate the students and public including various departments, sarpanches, panches, NGO's etc. by involving their participation in the awareness campaign against corruption and malpractices. Arora also administered an integrity pledge on the commencement of vigilance awareness week to its officers and employees of all units of the bureau.

Among others Balbir Kumar Bawa IG-cum-Director Vigilance Bureau, V. Neerja IG/EOW Vigilance Bureau, Dinesh Partap Singh Joint Director (Admn.) Vigilance Bureau and Rajinder Singh Joint Director (crime) Vigilance Bureau and technical officers were also present.
