Jalandhar: Cooperative Banks in India have become an integral part of Indian Finncial Inaclusion story.The have achieved many landmarks since their creation and have helped a normal citizen and rural Indian to feel empoered and secure.Cooperative Banks has been very effective in promoting financial inclusion, capacity building, assistance for creation of infrastructure to promote financial inclusion like financial literacy centres and financial education, said RBI regional director Nirmal Chand.He was delivering the keynote address at the seminar organised by Neeti Foundation - 'Sustainable inclusion and sector Reform in Cooperative Banking: Way forward"here in The Citizen Urban Co-OP. Bank Head OfficeJalandhar.This Seminar start with welcome address by Shri K.K.Sharma Chairman Citizen Bank Jalandhar.The Seminar atended by Shri Suresh Kumar IAS Retd.former Additional Chief Secrerary Punjab and Managing Director Punjab State Co-op Banks,Dr.Suraj Kumar Chief Mentor,Neeti Foundation,Shri Muneshwar Chander Addi.Registrar Co-op.Societies Punjab, Dr.Anand P Srivastva G.M.&Regional Head SIDBI,Dr.PM Ghole C.G.M.Nabard,Dr.Guru Murthy ,Shri Dinash Gupta.“The pursuit for inclusive growth would be incomplete without financial inclusion. While outreach and access defines inclusion in terms of coverage, it is financial literacy and education which makes this outreach meaningful,” said Suresh Kumar.“In order to promote financial education,banks has set up literacy centres to educate the masses on finance, banking and insurance across the state with the help of its stakeholders. Co-Op.Banks has attempted to leverage this outreach and the proximity to the clients by establishing literacy centres in the Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies and District Cooperative Banks.
