Construction of roads top priority of the Government: Himachal Chief Minister

Shimla, January 21, 2018: Roads being the life line of the hill people, keeping in view the topographical conditions of the State, the State Government was giving added stress on construction and maintenance of roads. This was stated by Chief Minister Shri Jai Ram Thakur on his first visit to Thachi area of Seraj assembly segment.

Shri Thakur said that that out of 58 Panchayats of Seraj constituency 56 have been provided road connectivity during his previous tenure as representative of the area.

He also addressed Public meetings at Bhaatloodhar, Thachi and Panjain.

Chief Minister said that it was painful to seen people carrying loads on their back and walking through the tough terrain, He said that he was committed to lessen their back-load to give them relief.

In next five years all the panchayats of the state will be provided road connectivity, said the Chief Minister and further adding that all the villages of Seraj would be linked by roads. The Chief Minister said that he was grateful to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Road Transport Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari who sanctioned as many as 63 National Highways for the State. It would further improve the road network besides giving added boost to tourism and State economy, he said.

He exhorted the people of his constituency to shun differences and party affiliations and join hands with the Government for ensuring development. Let the BJP rule Seraj for next many years to ensure development of the constituency and to make it a model constituency. He exhorted all to join hands to take Seraj to new heights. “I talk less and believe in delivering the services and work hard”, said he.

The slogan Shikhar pe Seraj’ (Seraj on top) given by people of my constituency stands true as of today, as they were more confident of my being elevated to Chief Ministers’ Chair, said Shri Jai Ram Thakur. I am thankful to all who stood by me and prayed for me and fought a electoral battle with a mission. I believe to work for achieving the targets with a motto ‘Karam Se Swabhimaan Tak’(from Work to self respect).

Shri Jai Ram Thakur said that the long wait for Chief Minister from Mandi district was over now and time had come to focus on development not only of Seraj and Mandi district, but the whole of the State as I have a bigger family now, but will be available for my constituents day and night who made me touch the zenith.

Chief Minister said that the works on three roads under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) had been sanctioned and the metalling would start on these soon. He said the sanctioned roads were Rs. 90 lakh Somgaad-Chalol road, Rs. 11.50crore Basan-Somgaad and Rs. 2.50 crore Naraingallu-Kuhan-Diddar Road. Besides, under state road project the Chief Minister announced a sum of Rs. 20 lakhs each for Thachi- Dandeli-Somgaad road and Thachi- Bijhar road.

He also announced a sum of Rs. 20 lakh for road to Didwaandhar road. He also announced a sum of Rs. 5 lakh for Luhri-Panala road.

He also announced a sum of Rs. 10 lakh for Thalout-Kalani, announced Rs. 10 lakh for Murah to Ghaneeshar road, Rs. 5 Lakh each for Upper Sarli to Lower Sarli road and Kot-Nallah to Bara-Seri road respectively. A sum of Rs.10 lakh was also announced for road from Chhakidhar to Dobha via Malachi-Panala

He said that tender for metalling and tarring Sudhranighat road under PMGSY was in process and tenders for construction of Buraah-Panjain road under NABARD were also under process.

Chief Minister also announced a Office(section) of JE PWD at Thachi, Baga-Chanaugi and Gada-Gusheni. He said that entire Seraj valley would be developed from tourism point of view and a proposal was underway.

He also announced to start science classes at Government Senior Secondary School, Shaarti from next academic session.

Shri Mahendar Singh Thakur, Irrigation and Public Health Minister said that the credit of making Chief Minister from Mandi firstly go to people of Seraj and thereafter to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He said that the roads during the pervious regime were in dilapidated condition.

The Minister thanked Shri Jai Ram Thakur for taking keen interest and initiating the Rs1134 World Bank aided Horticulture Project in the State jointly with technical know-how of New Zealand. He also thanked him for getting sanctioned projects worth Rs. 3300 crore for Irrigation and Public Health from the centre.

Member of Parliament Shri Ram Swaroop Sharma, MLA, Shri Jawahar Thakur also spoke on the occasion.

Several organisation contributed towards Chief Ministers relief fund which include Rs 51,000 by Dev Chunjwala Committee, Thachi, a sum of Rs 51,000 by Fruit Growers Association, Panjain, a sum of Rs 21,000 by Babita Thakur and Rs 11,000 by Staff of GSSS Devdhaar.

MLA. Banjar, Shri Surinder Shouri was also present amongst representatives from Panchayats, Mahila Mandals, Yuvak Mandals and others.
