Dharamshala, November 17, 2018: Himachal State Education Minister Suresh Bhardwaj presided over the meeting convened to review the progress of works related to the construction of Himachal Pradesh Central University HPCU in Dharamshala on Saturday, and instructed the officials to complete all the formalities related to lying of the foundation stone of Central University (HPCU), by December 27th.
Bharadwaj said that on any day, 27th December onword Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Human Resources Minister will be urged for the foundation lying ceremony of the university . “The University's North Campus will be built at Dharmashala's Jatarangal and in the South Campus Dehra in Kangra district,” he added.
After the meeting, Education Minister said that a total of 417 hectare land has been identified for the university, of which 303 hectares is in Jatarangal and 114 hectares is in Dehra. He said that 24 hectare land in Jatarangal has been transferred to the name of Central University and 34 hectare land in Dehra has been named for the university. The issue of Forest Acceptance of the remaining 84 hectare land of Dehra has been sent to the Union Environment Ministry and officers of Central University and State Forest Department will soon settle it in Delhi.
Bharadwaj instructed the CU to complete the land identified in Jatrangal and fix the boundaries and other formalities related to construction by December 15. He asked the SDM Dharamsala, DFO Dharamsala and Central University Administration to complete the land transfer work and instructed for the completion of the process of sending the issue of forest clearance of the remaining land to Environment Ministry.
He said, “ the state government is very serious to complete the process of university buildings constructions and it will not be tolerated any lapse at any level.”
Local MLA and food supply minister Kisan Kapoor was especially present in the meeting. He asked the officials to work promptly to complete the process of construction of Cu. “there are many expectations and hopes of the people about the early completion of central university,” he added.
Secretary Education Dr. Arun Sharma, Higher Education Director Dr.Amarjit, Additional Deputy Commissioner KK Saroch, Additional District Magistrate Mast Ram Bharadwaj, Registrar of Central University, Officers of Forest Department, SDM Dharamshala and officials of the concerned departments in Dehra were present in the meeting. For the past 8 years or so, BJP and Congress leaders have been at loggerheads over the location of the university.
The CUHP came into existence in 2010. Since then, it has been functioning from temporary campuses at Shahpur and Dharamshala. Due to non-availability of a permanent campus, the university was facing difficulty in starting so many faculties.
