Kolkata (West Bengal), March 12, 2016: Laying greater thrust on enhancing the knowledge about the positive facets of commodity futures market among the students, MCX jointly organized educational workshops in association with Future Business School, and Institute of Leadership Entrepreneurship and Development (ILEAD) in Kolkata early this week.

Financial literacy is one of the strategic initiatives to achieve inclusive growth. In this context, educating today’s youth about the financial markets is important and significant for the growth of Indian economy. Thus, MCX is facilitating this process, by creating awareness among the students through educational programmes.

The comprehensive workshops covered a wide range of topics that provided the students with a firm grasp on the working of a commodity futures exchange, aspects of commodity futures market, and the benefits of hedging in particular.

Mr. Vibhor Tandon, Assistant Vice President-Business Development, MCX said, “These awareness programmes are part of our endeavours to promote financial literacy in India and across the region. At MCX we are committed to sharing our knowledge and expertise to motivate and encourage youth to explore new career opportunities. We are confident that students will now be able to apply insights gained from these sessions into their education, career pursuits and potential entrepreneurial endeavors in the future.”

Mr. Santanu Ray, Director, ILEAD, said “By organizing educational workshops and seminars in collaboration with companies such as MCX for educational and skill-building initiatives, we aim to develop a generation of educated and motivated young people poised for successful career.”

“We at Future Business School are delighted to have partnered with MCX for this workshop to further our initiatives in inspiring and guiding our students”, said Mr. Kunal Sil, Faculty of Management Sciences, Future Business School.

On a similar note, MCX organized several other awareness programmes last week on base metal and bullion price risk management in Agartala (Tripura), Hazaribagh (Jharkhand), Kolkata. These programmes were organized in association with Tripura Jewellers Association, North-Chotonagpur Chamber of Commerce & Industries, and The National Small Industries Corporation Ltd.
