Commissionerate Police to establish ‘Accident Relief Fund’

Ludhiana, February 6, 2014: In a unique initiative aimed at providing relief to the victims of increasing road accidents in the city Commissionerate Police would soon establish ‘Accident Relief Fund’ for the injured persons.
With this fund injured persons will be immediately send to hospitals and given first medical/economical help. Disclosing about this public interest scheme here, Commissioner of police Nirmal Singh Dhillon said that due to heavy rush & traffic in the city road accidents take place in the city almost daily due to which the Police is trying their best to reduce the number of accidents besides providing medical & financial help to the injured persons.
To raise this fund ‘Road Safety Committee’ will be formed on district-level, in which prominent persons from various NGO’s, Industry, Hospital & others fields would be inducted as members. At present only one ambulance & couple of recovery vans always remains ready for action to send injured persons to hospitals. Reiterating his firm commitment to decrease the numbers of road accidents in city, Dhillon said that heavy traffic is totally banned during the hours between 8am to 12noon & 5pm to 9pm. Likewise laws to prohibit load passengers in commercial vehicles is implementing strictly. Keeping in the view of safety of school children transport committees are forming to make sure regular check of school buses.
Demanding cooperation from people Dhillon appealed parents that they should not allow their kids to run vehicle on road without valid licence. Drivers should follow the traffic rules & speed limit on way. More than 10,000 reflectors has been placed on the different vehicles under the special campaign by police.
