Commissioner of Police bans begging in areas under Police Commissionerate Ludhiana

Ludhiana, November 1, 2019: Exercising the powers vested under Section 144, Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, Commissioner of Police Ludhiana Mr Rakesh Kumar Agrawal has banned begging activity in all areas falling under the jurisdiction of Police Commissionerate Ludhiana.
He stated that it has been observed that beggars are involved in begging activity in main chowks, roads, public places etc. He said that sometimes, in a bid to beg, these beggars cross the road in hurry, which endangers their life as well as the life of commuters. He said that the anti-social elements can also take advantage of these beggars, which might result into some unfortunate incident.
So keeping in mind the interest and security of residents and to ensure law and order, the Commissioner of Police has banned begging in all areas falling under the jurisdiction of Police Commissionerate Ludhiana. These orders would remain in force for next two months.
