COMMISSIONER OF POLICE BANS ASSEMBLY OF FIVE OR MORE PERSONS

Ludhiana, February 12, 2019: Exercising his powers under section 144 of CrPC and keeping in view the present situation, the Commissioner of Police Ludhiana, Dr Sukhchain Singh Gill has imposed a ban on the gathering of five or more persons and holding protests/dharnas in all areas falling under the jurisdiction of Police Commissionerate Ludhiana. He informed that PUDA ground opposite Vardhman Mill in Sector 39 A, Chandigarh Road, Ludhiana has already been earmarked as site for holding any kind of protest/dharna. He clarified that without permission, there would be a complete ban on holding any protest/dharna at this site as well. Besides, there would be a complete ban on carrying any weapons or inflammable liquid material.
He informed that as per intelligence inputs, miscreants might try to disrupt peace, which might lead to law and order problem and can further lead to loss of life and property. The orders would remain in force for two months.
