Khanna, October 14, 2015: A number of commission agents of Khanna Grain Market led by President of Commission Agents Association Sukhwinder Singh today protested against the state government due to non payment of paddy.
The commission agents gathered in the grain market Khanna and sit on dharna in front of DFSC Office situated in the grain market. The protesters raised the slogans against the state Govt. and purchase agencies due to non payment of paddy.
In their address Hardev Singh Rosha along with Ajmer Singh Poorva alleged that although the purchase is going on from last 14 days but the state procurement agencies had failed to release the payments of commission agents resulting hardships to Commission Agents and Farmers. President Sukhwinder Singh said that although there are tall claims that the payments of purchase of paddy will be cleared in 72 hours but more than 60 crore payments of commission agents are pending with state purchasing agencies. The protesters raised slogans against the state government and the officials of purchase agencies and demanded immediate release of payments. They warned that if the payments are not released immediately then they will widen their struggle.
When DFSC Ludhiana Sona Thind was contacted in this regard she said that payments have been released and are expected to deposit in the accounts of commission agents by tomorrow morning. A number of commission agents of Khanna grain market and a number of farmers were also present at the time of dharna.
