College of Nursing, CMC & Hospital, Ludhiana celebrates Nurses Day
International Nurses Day is celebrated across the world on May 12th every year. It is the birthday of Florence Nightingale a Nurse Legend. College of Nursing, CMC & Hospital, Ludhiana celebrated Nurses Day today. The event was organized by TNAI (Trained Nurses Association of India) and SNA (Student Nurses Association) local branch on the theme “Nurses: A Voice to Lead – Health for All”. Dr. Reena Jairus-Professor & Principal, College of Nursing introduced the chief guest and emphasized that more than any other health professionals, nurses spend most of their time with patients & their families. Prof.(Mrs.) Ponnamma R. Singh-Former Principal, College of Nursing, CMC & Hospital was the Chief Guest. She addressed the gathering and appreciated the hard work of nurses. She said nurses are considered as role models & kind hearted who promote healing and provide compassionate care to the patients. Dr. William Bhatti- Director in his address said that nursing is the most trusted and respected health profession. Mrs. Balqis Victor-President, TNAI (Local Branch), CMC Unit unfolded the theme. She emphasized that ‘Health for All’ means that health is brought into reach of everyone in a given country and appreciated the quality nursing care provided by nurses. A panel discussion was organized on the theme and panelists were Mr. Sanjeet Johnson-Associate Professor, Mrs. Meera Alvin John, Mrs. Jatinder Kaur & Mrs. Elizabeth Scott-- Clinical Instructors. International Nurses Week was celebrated from 06th to 11th May, 2019 and a weeklong activities were planned by TNAI and SNA Units (Local Branch). Nursing Foundation Dept. organized a competition on Procedure Demonstration for BSc(N) & GNM 1st year students on 6th & 7th May. Community Health Nursing Dept. conducted a Quiz on 8th May for GNM 3rd year students. On 9th May Medical Surgical Nursing Dept. organized a Poster Exhibition cum Competition on “Common Diseases & Disorders” for GNM 2nd year and a Quiz on “Senior Nursing Procedures & Diagnostic Evaluation” for B.Sc(N) & GNM 2nd year. Obstetric & Gynaecological Nursing Department conducted a Model Making Competition on the topics “Fundamentals of Reproduction” & “Diagnosis of Pregnancy” for B.Sc(N) & GNM 3rd year and a Quiz on “Ante Natal Care” for BSc(N) 4th year on 10th May. Poster Exhibition was done by TNAI members on 11th May, Mrs. Rajmani Malhotra-Ward Incharge (Ward-28) bagged First & Third Prize & Mrs. Sunita Martin- Ward Incharge (Ward-4) got Second Prize. Programme concluded with cake cutting ceremony.
