Kapurthala, November 21, 2018: Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala has manufactured a new rake to be run in the Buddhist circuit consisting total of 12 coaches with number of innovative features. The rake was handed over by Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer of RCF Sh.M P Sinha to Shri Awadesh Kumar, GGM of IRCTC. This is a tourist rake customized by RCF as per demands of IRCTC keeping in view the special needs of tourists for comfortable and pleasurable journey. The design and manufacturing of this tourist rake has been in-house completely and in a short span of approximately six months. This rake is now being delivered to IRCTC. The rake is on the pattern of Maharaja Express tourist train already being run by IRCTC which was developed especially by M/s Cox and Kings.
This tourist rake comprise of 4 nos. of First AC Coaches, 2 nos. of Second AC coaches, 2 nos. of AC Dining Cars, 2 nos. of Power Cars, 1 no. Third AC for Staff car and 1 no. for pantry car. In this rake, the layouts of Seconds AC coach, Dining Car, Power Car, Third AC coach and Pantry car has been altered and customized on specific demands of IRCTC.
The exterior of all coaches have been provided with Fleet graphic film depicting rich heritage and culture of India through various monuments & symbols. The exterior Vinyl film colour scheme is a mix of beige and brown colours which makes the rake look aesthetically pleasing. Also, the interior of this tourist coach has been furnished by providing aesthetically pleasing PVC based films in matching shades and colours and having leather finish.
The rake is equipped with modern features like Bio-Vacuum toilets, upgraded modular toilets and bathrooms, CCTV Cameras, Smoke and Fire Detection System in all coaches, Fire Detection and Fire Suppression System in Pantry and Power Car coaches, PA System for better comfort and safety of passengers.
The 1st and 2nd AC coaches are provided with two shower rooms and two western style toilets with fittings such as touch-less tap, soap dispenser and hand dryer, Gel coated Wash Basin Shelf, marble finish interior paneling having anti-graffiti coating etc. These coaches are also provided with valuable lockers. The second AC coach has provision of comfortable Sofa with adjustable reading lights. The passenger capacity for these coaches are 24 and 30 respectively.
The dining car of this rake has a capacity to accommodate 64 passengers. Dining car is equipped with aesthetically pleasing LED/Decorative lighting, electrically operated venetian blind windows, dining tables in teakwood finish, glass tables tops, Stainless Steel partition frames with MDF board etc. In serving area, several new equipments such as Baine marie for serving hot food, programmable coffee vending machine, microwave oven, wine chiller, plate dispenser, automatic dish washer etc has also been provided.
The pantry car coaches has been provided with many modern equipments like exhaust, chimneys, Electric Hot plate (M/s. Moffat), Deep Fat Friers (M/s. Sammic) Combi Ovens (M/s. Convotherrm), Deep Freezers, Salamandar,Dough making machine, Ice Cream Chest Freeze, Under Counter Freezers,RO Water dispenser etc.
The third AC coach is for the staff and will have special provision for comfortable stay of staff like individual lockers, dedicated kitchen, dining space etc. It will also have centralized control room for various safety features like Smoke Detection and and Alarm system, CCTV, Public Address system etc. A separate cabin has been provided for the Manager.The power car of this rake has also been specially modified by connecting the luggage compartment with the rake by provision of sliding door. Guard compartment has been shifted in the rake end side.
The complete rake is to be run in predefined formation by keeping the pantry car in centre and connecting one Dining Car,two First AC, One Second AC and one power car on each side of the Pantry Car. Third AC is to be attached adjacent to the Power Car on any side.
