CMD PSPCL resolves industrial issues of CICU

Ludhiana, July 19, 2014: A delegation of Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU)comprising of Avtar Singh, President, Upkar Singh Ahuja, General Secretary, Manjit Singh Khalsa, Charanjit Singh Vishawkarma, Vice Presidents along with other key industrialists called on K.D Chaudhary, Chairman and Managing Director PSPCL in connection with power related issues.
Chaudhary, after patience hearing announced reliefs for the industry as under:
?  Taking into consideration the facts apprised by the Delegation that the Industry Department has no objection on operation of more than one Manufacturing Unit in the same plot, building or premises but according to PSPCL parameters it is illegal use of electricity.  He agreed to submit a proposal to the State Government for reframing Electricity Policy and amending the Electricity Act to release Power Connection to more than one Commercial Unit established within the premises of existing Unit.
?  VDS Scheme for change of category from small to medium will be introduced by the PPCL on getting permission from Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission.
?  Orders for appointing new cashiers on ad hoc basis and installation of 200 sewak machines have already been issued for resolving the difficulties being faced by the consumers for payment of electricity bills.
?  Special project for upgrading the electricity supply infrastructure in Ludhiana will be implemented shortly.
?  Proposal is being prepared for upgrading the capacity of power grids in Ludhiana.
?  Bhakra Beas Management Board had already submitted proposal to Central Government for grant of approval for installation of high capacity transformer and up gradation of its power house operating at Chandigarh Road, Ludhiana.
?  On receipt of regular coal supply there will be no power restrictions for industry and the power cuts will be reduced to bare minimum.
?  Night restrictions for use of power had already been abolished for small and medium categories of industries. For large category night restrictions are being reviewed on daily basis and this information is available on website of PPCL.
This meeting was also attended by Avtar Singh Bhogal, G.L. Pahwa, Inderjit Singh Navyug, Kulwinder Singh Banipal, Rajinder Singh Sarahali and others.
