CMCH: CME on Neuro-Imaging

Ludhiana, November 5, 2012: The CME on neuro-imaging held by Department of Radiodiagnosis, Christian Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana in association with the Indian Radiological and Imaging Association IRIA (Punjab and Chandigarh) was a well organised academic event held on November 4 in the Lady Willingdon Hall at Christian Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana.

The CME was well attended with over 200 delegates participating from Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.  Eminent speakers from all over India spoke about the recent advances and newer imaging techniques to diagnose common neurological and neurosurgical conditions like stroke, migraine, epilepsy, neuroinfections and brain tumours.

The CME was inaugurated by R. K. Verma, Commissioner, Ludhiana Municipal Corporation, Dr. Kim Mammen, Associate Director, CMCH, Dr. Jignesh Thakkar, Dr. Bhardwaj and Dr. Kulwant Singh were the other dignitaries present.

Dr. Rajesh Chakravarti, Organising Co-chairman and Head of Department, Radiodiagnosis, CMC & Hospital, Ludhiana spoke about the latest imaging equipment available at CMC, including the state of the art 128 slice CT scan and 1.5 T MRI machine for accurate and timely diagnosis in patients coming with neurological symptoms.

Dr. Nittala Pramod, Scientific Committee Chairman said that the CME had been planned so that everyone from PG students, practicing radiologists and medical practitioners benefitted from it.  A discussion on PC-PNDT Act highlighted the steps taken to prevent female feticide. 

The CME concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Subhash Singla, organising Co-Secretary followed by Tea.
