Embezzlement of 2538 MT of wheat stock worth Rs.4.50 Cr at Mullanpur Storage Center district Ludhiana of PAFCL

Chandigarh, September 18, 2012: On the recommendations of the Financial Commissioner Development, the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today ordered a vigilance enquiry to probe into the alleged embezzlement of 2538 MT of Wheat stock amounting to nearly Rs.4.50 crore at Mullanpur Storage Center district Ludhiana of Punjab Agro Food Corporation Ltd. (PAFCL).  

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the CMO said that Badal in view the grave irregularities found in this case gave nod for vigilance enquiry in line with his government’s policy of zero tolerance for corruption and other malpractice in the state administration. 

It may be recalled that the Managing Director of PAFCL had deputed a special team for the physical verification of the wheat stacked at various plinths of Mullanpur Center on September 7 and 8 and consequently an FIR was registered against the former Plinth In-charge Mela Singh at Police Station Dakha by the District Manager Ludhiana on September 10.
