Chandigarh, June 24, 2014: As a goodwill gesture towards the welfare of Muslim and Christian brethren, the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today asked the Finance Department to make regular budgetary provision in the state's annual budget for the purchase of land for the cemeteries and burial grounds.
This decision was taken by the Chief Minister in a meeting with the delegation of Minority Commission led by its Chairman Munawar Massih here at CMO this morning.
Conceding another demand of the delegation, the Chief Minister also agreed to allot 1695 square yards of land for the construction of "Massih Bhawan" at Amritsar as the state government has already allotted Rs 25 lakh for this purpose. Likewise, Badal also ordered the Deputy Commissioner Gurdaspur to hand over the possession of "Massih Bhawan" under construction to the society overseeing the project. The Chief Minister also announced a grant of Rs 10 lakh for the completion of construction works on the said project at the earliest. It may be recalled that Badal had already sanctioned Rs 10 lakh for the construction of this "Massih Bhawan".
Responding to another demand for the formation of peace committees at district level across the state, the Chief Minister directed the Financial Commissioner Home to immediately initiate steps in this regard as the list of members to be nominated for these committees had already been given to ADGP Crime. Badal also assured the delegation to get their demand for the construction of toilets for Minority (Christian and Muslim) BPL card holders thoroughly examined.  
Prominent amongst those present on the occasion Cabinet Minister Anil Joshi, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Som Parkash, Financial Commissioner Home Jagpal Singh, Secretary Housing and Urban Development A Venuprasad, Chief Administrator GMADA AK Sinha, Secretary Local Government Ashok Gupta, Special Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Ajoy Kumar Sharma and ADGP Crime Jasminder Singh.
