Double lane bridge to be constructed over Beas river
Shimla, June 11, 2017: Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh announced a double lane bridge to be constructed over Beas river to link Bahari-Langana-Neri-Jogindernagar and to name it as Lal Bahadur Shashtri Bridge. He was speaking after participating in the morning assembly of the Gramin Adarsh Vidalaya, Bahari in Dharampur assembly constituency of Mandi district today.

Chief Minister also laid foundation stone of Lift Water Supply Scheme, Kot Dhawaal in Dharampur to cost Rs. 2.20 crore. The scheme would benefit 77 habitations of eight panchayats of the area with a population of 8500.

He announced two buses for children of the Gramin Adarsh School and construction of additional block and a boundary wall around the school complex.

The grading system in schools should be discouraged, said the Chief Minister adding that the grading system was not in far better interest of the students. He said that there should be examination system right from the first class. The government was committed to provide quality education in rural areas of the state and the State Government has opened many schools and colleges particularly in rural areas of the state. Today there were around 125 colleges and as many as 15,500 schools catering to educational needs of the students, he said.

Shri Virbhadra Singh said that the State Government had made English, Hindi and Mathematics compulsory in government schools from the first class. The colleges in far-flung areas opened by the government were proving as a boon to the girl child as the number of girl students was more in such colleges. The government was also ensuring to provide hostel facilities for girls in educationally backward blocks of the state.

The Chief Minister also announced upgradation of Community Health Centre Dharampur to Civil hospital and upgradation of veterinary dispensary to veterinary hospital in Dharampur late yesterday evening.

Earlier, Shri Chandershekhar Vice-Chairman, Handloom and Handicraft Corporation welcomed and honoured the Chief Minister and other dignitaries present on the occasion.
