CM to dedicate Maharaja Dalip Singh Memorial at Bassian Kothi on January 15

Chandigarh, October 28, 2014: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal would dedicate the historic Maharaja Dalip Singh Memorial after its restoration and facelift at Bassian Kothi in Ludhiana district to the nation on January 15, 2015.
A decision to this effect was taken by the Chief Minister while presiding over a meeting of the Cultural Affairs Department to review the conservation works at Maharaja Dalip Singh Memorial at Bassian Kothi.
In another significant decision aimed at imparting quality technical education to the youth of the region, the Chief Minister also gave nod for setting up Punjab Institute of Management and Technology at the land adjoining to Maharaja Dalip Singh Memorial at Bassian Kothi. This institute would be set up by the Punjab Technical University (PTU). Badal asked the Vice Chancellor of the PTU to complete the necessary formalities in this regard besides finalising the courses in which training would be provided by the institute.
On the occasion the representative of Indian National Trust and Cultural Heritage (INTACH), who was entrusted with the restoration work of the project, said that the civil works of this project has been completed whereas the landscaping would be over by end of next month.
Prominent amongst other present on the occasion included Cabinet Minister Sohan Singh Thandal, Special Principal Secretary to Chief Minister KJS Cheema, Secretary Department of Cultural Affairs Raji P Srivastva, Director Tourism Navjotpal Singh Randhawa, Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana Rajat Aggarwal, Vice Chancellor of PTU Dr. Rajneesh Arora, representative of Namdhari Sect Surinder Singh Namdhari and noted Punjabi writer Prof. Gurbhajan Singh Gill.
