CM conducts surprise visit at school for meritorious students

Ludhiana, January 24, 2015: To make sure that the studies of students of School for Meritorious Students, Civil Lines, Ludhiana don't suffer, the school will now have uninterrupted power supply as it would now have a hotline connection. Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said this during his surprise visit to the school premises, here today. He said that the school students will also get 52 brand new computers very soon, besides other facilities which would help them in their studies.

During his surprise visit, the CM interacted with the students of School for Meritorious Students and even took first hand feedback from them. While interacting with the students, the CM said that as today was the festival of Basant Panchami, he wanted to spend some time with the students.

He said that for uplifting education on the state, six Schools for Meritorious Students have been set up in different parts of the state and that very soon, more such schools would be opened. The CM assured the students that the Punjab government is committed for providing quality education to the students.

Keeping in mind the studies of students in summers, the CM immediately directed Deputy Commissioner Rajat Agarwal to make sure the school is connected with the hotline. He also said that 20 more teachers would be appointed in this school from next session onwards.

School Principal Anup Kumar Passi told the CM that under the Project "Udaan" of the centre government, out of 1,000 students selected from entire country, three students are from this school. He said that the centre government would pay for their study of engineering and would even provide them one tablet each. He said out of these three students, two are from Bathinda district while one from Sri Amritsar Sahib.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included CM's Advisor Mahesh Inder Singh Grewal, SAD district president Madan Lal Bagga, BJP district president Parveen Bansal, CM Special Principal Secretary S Karuna Raju, Deputy Commissioner Rajat Agarwal, ADC (Development) Supreet Singh Gulati, besides several others.
