Memorial to be erected at Amritsar-Attari road

Chandigarh, September 19, 2012: In a bid to perpetuate the rich legacy of country’s spiritual ambassador Swami Vivekanand, the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today gave nod for constituting a commemoration committee under his Chairmenship to chalk out detailed program for the year long celebrations in the state to mark his 150th Birth Anniversary.

 A decision to this effect was taken by the Chief Minister after marathon discussions with a delegation led by Chief Parliamentary Secretary Som Parkash who called on the former here at CMO.  It was also decided in the meeting to erect a suitable memorial probably at Amritsar-Attari road to mark the visit of Swami Vivekanand to Punjab. 

The Chief Minister asked the delegation to make concerted efforts for the commemoration of this mega event in a befitting manner to pay glorious tributes to the legendary icon of youth who propagated the message of universal brotherhood, goodwill, peace, harmony and amity through the ethos of religious tolerance and mutual trust across the globe.

Prominent amongst other who attended the meeting included Vice Chancellor Punjab Technical University Rajneesh Arora, Brig. Jagdish Gagneja, Munishwar, Vijay Singh, Vinay Kapoor, Seema Kapoor Vishal Jain and CS Talwar (IAS retd.).
