ORDERS PWD TO CONDUCT TECHNICAL ENQUIRY INTO TRAGIC INCIDENT

Chandigarh, August 19, 2018: Punjab Chief Minister Capt.Amarinder Singh on Sunday expressed grief over the death of six labourers in a wall collapse at a rice sheller in village Lakhanpur, Fatehgarh Sahib, and announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs one lakh each to their families.

The chief minister, while directing the Deputy commissioner to ensure the best possible medial aid to five injured, has said that the entire cost of their treatment will be borne by the state government. The injured have been shifted to the Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector-32, Chandigarh.

While a FIR has been registered under section 304 of IPC against the owner of the rice sheller, the chief minister has directed the PWD department to submit a technical report, detailing the reasons behind the wall collapse.

Sharing his heartfelt condolences with the bereaved families, the Chief Minster prayed to the Almighty to grant peace to the departed souls and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
