Chandigarh, March 14, 2015: Prof. Dr. Amod Gupta, one of the founders of Advanced Eye Centre of the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) is counted amongst the most outstanding clinical researchers of India. His contributions to research have included the discovery of new diseases of the eye, their clinical manifestations and new management strategies, which have brought a paradigm shift in the management of several blinding diseases.
Numerous honours bestowed on him include R.N. Mathur Award, Dr. Daljit Singh Oration, V.P. Kashyap Oration, P. Siva Reddy International Award, Ranbaxy Research Award for Clinical Research, American Academy of Ophthalmology Achievement Award and Padma Shri.
In recognition of his iconic contributions, the Senate of Panjab University recommends the bestowment of Vigyan Rattan Award to him. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
