CII Punjab State Council gets New Office Bearers

Chandigarh, March 1, 2013: D L Sharma, Managing Director, Vardhman Textiles Limited has been appointed the New Chairman of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Punjab State Council by, while Sanjeev Pahwa, Managing Director, Ralson (India) Limited is elected as the new Vice Chairman of CII Punjab State Council for the year 2013-14, here at CII NR Headquarters in Sector 31 A, Chandigarh.

While outlining the agenda for the CII Punjab Council for the year, they shared that “In Punjab, CII’ endeavours would focus on strengthening engagement with government, reviving the manufacturing sector and achieving manufacturing excellence, enhancing competitiveness of the Punjab SMEs to be competitive globally, Inclusivity, skill development and training as per industry requirements, safeguarding environment and empowering the women and the deprived and marginalised sections of the society”.

Born in 1948, an Engineer by qualification and a 2001 alumnus of the Harvard Business School, D L Sharma holds a key position in the top leadership of Vardhman Group i.e Managing Director of Vardhman Yarns & Threads Limited, a 50:50 Joint Venture of Vardhman Textiles Limited and A&E LLC, USA. He is also associated with Vardhman Group’s Corporate Affairs and International Business Alliances.

He has an illustrious career spanning over 40 years. He has been associated with the Vardhman Group’s evolution from a conventional stand-alone manufacturing unit to a multi product, multi unit entity. Today the Company is an established Industry Leader.
He has worked in various capacities and spheres that have enabled him to acquire a versatile experience and in-depth knowledge about men, machine and materials. An oriental at heart, he has acquired an International outlook by travelling far and wide which has helped in internationalizing the Company’s culture inside out. He has been actively involved in the globalisation of Vardhman Group’s operations including the Group’s strategic alliances.
Sanjeev Pahwa, a B.Tech (Mechanical) graduate from IIT- Delhi in 1989, is the Chairman cum Managing Director (CMD) of Ralson India Limited, which is a leading Manufacturer and Exporter of the Bicycle and Motorcycle Tyres and Tubes.  Ralson is tapping the full potential of booming global market and the promising domestic scenario led by Pahwa.
