CII lauds HP government for making it easy to get power connections

Dharamshala, May 15, 2016: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) congratulates Government of Himachal Pradesh for simplifying procedures for applying for electricity connections in Himachal Pradesh and thus improving on Ease of doing business in the state.

"As we are aware that the Government of Himachal Pradesh has been making constant efforts to ease the process of doing business in Himachal, abolishing obtaining affidavits and introducing self-certification will further ease the business community," said Sanjay Khurana, Chairman , CII Himachal Pradesh State Council, in a press release here on Sunday.

Lauding the state government for the initiatives, Khurana said, "The No Objection Certificate for power connection which was earlier required from Industries Department, Pollution Control Board and Fire department, has been abolished and is required only for planning areas covered under TCP, Municipal Corporation, Nagar Panchayat and local bodies covered under TCP Act, 1977. It may be required legally otherwise but not for getting power connection.” He said, "The simplification process will contribute significantly towards increasing business, attracting investments and bringing in development of the Hill state.”

“We sincerely appreciate the State Government's efforts for taking up this issue seriously and making the recommended changes. It will act as a milestone decision which will go a long way in making Himachal Pradesh an attractive industrial destination,” said Rajesh Saboo, Vice-Chairman, Himachal Pradesh State Council.
