CICU to Submit Standard Operating Procedure for Rain Water Harvesting to PPCB Shortly

Ludhiana, October 5, 2018: It is a hard hitting fact that per capita availability of water has decreased from 5178 cum in 1951 to 1441 cum in 2015 per year. Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Undertakings has been motivating Residents/Industrialists to do Rain Water Harvesting; but there had been apprehensions at the end of PPCB to allow rain water harvesting for Roof Top Water in Industrialists.

This issue has been taken up by S. Upkar Singh Ahuja, President CICU, with Chairman Punjab Pollution Control Board, Prof. Satwinder Singh Marwaha during the interaction meeting with Industrialists on 4/10/2018 at CICU Complex, Focal Point, Ludhiana. Mr. Karunesh Garg, Member Secretary PPCB has assured that CICU forms a standard operating procedure for setting up of Rain Water Harvesting, it can be allowed for Roof Top Water.

Mr. Pankaj Sharma, General Secretary, CICU thanked PPCB for this kind gesture and has confirmed that Mr. S.B. Singh, Joint Secretary CICU & Convener, Go Green Environment Committee of CICU, Will submit the SOP’s for Rain Water Harvesting within a week so that it can be taken to logical conclusion and Practical Implementation may be started at the earliest possible.
