CICU Inaugurates Five Days Programme on Certified Course in Excellence in Plant Management

Ludhiana, August 23, 3026: Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU), Ludhiana has been organising various programs for the benefit of the industry and trade sectors of Punjab. Skill up-gradation of the Industrial employees/workers is one of the key agenda under the “Make In India” initiative by the Government & facilitated by Chamber. CICU has recognised its responsibility in this regard and has decided to launch the “Excellence in Plant Management” program. This type of program has been organised for the first time in Ludhiana. The first session of this program was conducted on 23rd August 2016 at CICU Complex, Focal Point Ludhiana.
Sh. Avtar Singh, President CICU in his welcome address said that there is a dire need for the up-gradation of the industry in terms of plant management especially in Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, where things are still handled on traditional concepts & mismatch with today’s competitive scenario. For Global Competition, achieving Excellence in Business has become very important and plant management plays a vital role in its up-gradation.
Sh. Upkar Singh Ahuja, General Secretary CICU said that Plant Management is a blend of Lean Concepts like 5S, 3M & Kaizen, Daily Work Management, Inventory Management, Production Improvement by monitoring O.E.E, TPM & TQM etc. are effective tools for achieving Excellence in Plant Management. The organizations can improve their working by implementing these strategies.
The interactive and thought provoking session was conducted by Sh. Rakesh Gupta, founder CEO of M/s ACE1 Consulting. He is B.E., MS (BITS Pilani) & pursuing PhD (IIT Delhi). Sh. Gupta is having 31 years of rich experience in automotive & engineering industry. He has worked with ACMA, ACT division as Principal Counsellor for 11.5 years. He has worked with United Nations (UNIDO) as National Expert to improve the competitiveness of SMEs in Auto Component Industry. In his first session, he enlightened the participants with concepts like 5S, Visual management, Safety, 7 types of Wastes and its control, 3M, Kaizen, Layout Changes and LCA concepts for excellent working.
Sh. SB Singh Publicity Secretary CICU said knowledge shared in this program, if implemented practically and effectively will definitely improve the productivity, quality, reduce wastages, accidents and costs in their respective industries.
The program was attended by 30 participants from different industrial sectors like auto components, fasteners, garments & textiles, bicycle components, agriculture & horticulture machinery and machine tools etc.
The program was highly appreciated by the participants.
