Lauds the Lucknow Nagar Nigam which established the Kanha Upvan
Lucknow, March 31, 2017: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mr.Yogi Adityanath today visited the Kanha Upvan Gaushala located at Nadarganj and inspected the cow sheds and the arrangements made for the cows. He also visited the Siddhartha birds-animal
treatment centre and the sterilization facilities for dogs and treatment facilities for injured animals. The Chief Minister also fed cows green fodder and jaggery.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Dr.Dinesh Sharma, Urban Development Minister Mr.Suresh Khanna and Minister of state Mrs. Swati Singh. During the inspection the Chief Minister pointed out that cows love cleanliness and issued directions for better cleanliness, upkeep and maintenance of the cow sheds and to provide more fodder to the cows.
He also called for expansion of the cow sheds, their strengthening and better utilization of cow dung and cow urine. The Chief Minister was also briefed about the under-construction sheds for 700 more cows after which he directed officers to use these sheds at the earliest.
Mr. Yogi also lauded the Lucknow Nagar Nigam for establishing the Kanha Upwan and expressed his desire to urban development minister Mr. Suresh Khanna that this model be replicated in other municipal corporations as well and where
they already exist, they should be expanded to accommodate more cows. This, he pointed out, would not only provide shelter to the cows recovered from cow smugglers but also provide succour and treatment to ailing animals.
The Chief Minister also interacted with employees of the Gaushala and asked them to also concentrate on the education of their children. He also sought details of the biogas plant being established here and directed for increase of its capacity to
benefit the workers here.
The 54-bigha Kanha Upwan was established by the LNN in 2010 and it now houses around 900 cows and 917 bulls and some calves. The treatment centre here also treats ailing dogs and monkeys. The Chief Minister later met local women and heard them out. He also assured them of looking into their demands of proper water exit and better roads.
Also present during the inspection were Principal Secretary (Urban Development) Mr. Kumar Kamlesh, City Commissioner Mr. Uday Raj Singh, Mrs.Aparna Yadav, Mr. Prateek Yadav and office bearers of the Jeev Ashray Swaichchhik Sanstha who are looking after the Kanha Upwan.
