Ludhiana, December 6, 2015: S Charanjit Singh Brar was unanimously elected as the President of the Punjab Judo Association here today. Mr Brar swept the elections with 33 votes out of 40 votes in his favour in a house of Punjab Judo Association. 17 affiliated/ registered Districts out of 22 Districts Judo Associations were represented/participated at the state body election. Mr.N.S.Thakurand S.Rupinder Singh, Deputy Director were present at the elections. Mr. N.S. Thakur was deputed by Judo Federation of India whereas, S.Rupinder Singh was deputed by the Punjab State Sports Council to observe the smooth conduct of the elections
MrAbjinder Singh of Jalandhar Judo District Association was elected as General Secretary of the PJA by polling 33 votes. Sh. SudeshAgnihotri, PPS, Commandant (FGS), was elected as Sr. Vice President whereas, Sh. ChamanLal Sharma (ASR), S. Gurpreet Singh (NawanShahr) , S.Onkar Singh Nagi (Ldh) and Arvinder Singh Sikand (Ldh) has been elected as Vice Presidents and Sh. D.S. Dalie (Sangrur) as legal advisors.
The house unanimously elected Dr. Satpal Kaur (SAS Nagar), Sh. Parveen Thakur (Ldh), Sh. Suraj Bhardwaj (Jal), and Sh. Neeraj Jindal (Barnala)as Joint Secretaries whereas, the house elected Sh. Kuldeep Singh Virk (Mohali) as Treasurer of the association. The Executives members of the Association are S. Ranjit Singh Tharu (TT), S. G.S.Bhalla (ASR), S. LakhwinderpalSingh (Jal), S. Bhagat Singh (NawanShehar), Sartaj Singh Taaji(Fazilka) and S. Sukhdeep Singh (TT). Technical Committee has also been constituted. The members have nominated Sh. Jiwan Sharma ( Patiala), Sh. SatpalRana (Jal), RakeshSingh( Ldh), Sh. Narinder Singh, Olympian and Arjuna Awardee (Jal) were elected as Technical Advisor whereas,Sh. Kishor Kumar,(Patiala), Sh. Surinder Singh( Patiala)Sh. Harbans Singh (Jal), Sh. Karamjit Singh (ASR), Ms. Kulvinder Kaur (TT), Ms. ShaluModgil (Mansa), Sh. Sanjeev Sharma ( Ropar) Sh. Harjinder Singh (ASR), Sh. Paramjit Singh (Asr), Sh. Harinder Singh Saki ( Patiala),
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Charanjit Singh Brar said,“Punjab is full of potential and needs right direction to progress specially in sports. I’m determined to eradicate the dark era of the sport. From now onwards alike Kabaddi, we are determined to raise the status of Judo and want to make it every household game. We will start our journey from the grass roots”, adding to him jubilant S. Abjinder Singh, General Secretary, has announced that all the National/ World Championship/ World Cup/ Commonwealth Games/Asian Games/ Olympics Games medalist will be honored at the State Judo Championship for all age groups of both men and women in the next year. All the supporters of the wining panel of candidates, who had gathered at the venue, celebrated the announcement with sweets, slogans and grand lunch.
There was heavy security deployment at the venue of the election by Ludhiana Police to prevent any untoward incident.
