CGC Landran to host Smart India Hackathon 2019
Chosen nodal centre for the 3rd consecutive year Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) Landran has been selected as one of the 48 nodal centres to host the grand finale of national level event - Smart India Hackathon 2019 (SIH2019) Software edition, world’s biggest open innovation platform. It is for the 3rd consecutive year that CGC will be hosting this event. SIH2019 is an initiative of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, AICTE and other key agencies. CGC would host around 300-plus participants from across the country in this 36-hour software product development competition scheduled to be held on March 02 and 03, 2019, simultaneously, at 48 different nodal centers across India. These teams (comprising 6 students each) visiting CGC Landran would be competing to work on 8 problem statements given by companies including SSEPL Skills Pvt Ltd., AICH Appraisers Auctioners and Valuers, CTTC, Bhuwaneswar and Ossia. SIH2019 seeks to promote the culture of innovative thinking, entrepreneurship and problem solving among students, inspiring them to come up with solutions to tackle various challenges face by the country. It involves 3,000-plus technical institutions, more than one lakh technical students and 200-plus organisation from across India. 30,333 ideas have been approved for the finale of the software edition of SIH. A total of 334 software problem statements are proposed for the software edition. About Smart India Hackathon 2019 Launched on Oct 16, 2017 in Pune, Smart India Hackathon 2018 harnesses creativity & expertise of students, builds funnel for ‘Startup India, Standup India’ campaign, crowdsources solutions for improving governance and quality of life, and provides opportunity to citizens to provide innovative solutions to India’s daunting problems. All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) under the aegis of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and in collaboration with Inter Institutional Inclusive Innovations Center (i4c), Persistent Systems, and Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini is organizing Smart India Hackathon 2019.
