CEO imparts training under systematic voters’ education electoral participating

Chandigarh, August 16, 2013: Keeping in view the ensuing Parliament elections in the state, the chief electoral officer Punjab Raminder Singh has directed all the additional district electoral officers and other concerned officers to ensure proper implementation of the guidelines issued by the Chief Election Commission with regard to Systematic Voters’ Education Electoral Participating (SVEEP) and the revision of voters’ list as per the cut out date of 1-1-2014.

Stating this here today, a spokesman of the CEO Punjab said that a full training programme was also conducted for the officers concerned about the activities of SVEEP to ensure the proper revision of voters’ lists according to the guidelines of the CEC so that more and more eligible voters could be registered during the revision of the voters’ lists to begin on September 6, 2013.

Special attention was being paid to register the youth in the age group of 18 years or above as voters. With a view to generating more awareness amongst the youth of the state, the CEO has directed the officers to launch a special awareness campaign in the universities, colleges and other educational institutions under Systematic Voters’ Education Electoral Participating programmes. Besides this eligible women, service voters and remaining voters would also be encouraged to get themselves registered as voters. The NRIs who have not yet been registered could also get themselves registered as per the guidelines of the Chief Election Commission of India, said the spokesman.
