Centre and State Govt should together find solution to save the future of 3 lac & 1600 Unaided Colleges
Ludhiana, January 13, 2019: A meeting of Punjab Unaided Colleges Association (PUCA) under the leadership of Dr.Anshu Kataria, President, PUCA was held recently on Post Matric Scholarship (PMS). Sh.Amit Sharma, Senior Vice President; S.Gurfateh Gill, Vice President; S.Gurpreet Singh, General Secretary; S.Gurkirat Singh, Joint Secretary; Dr.Manmohan Garg, Finance Secretary etc were also present during the meeting. Dr.Anshu Kataria requested Centre and State Govt to release the pending 1286 Crore of PMS. Over 3 Lakh and 1600 Unaided Colleges of Punjab are in dilemma because on the one hand Centre Govt is not releasing the pending amount due to non submission of audit reports while on the other hand State Govt is requesting and following the Centre Govt to atleast disburse some amount from the total outstanding. In such tough situation SC students and Unaided Colleges are facing hardships because of non release of payment. Though students & Colleges got some relief when 323 crore was released recently. Kataria further said that keeping in mind the interest of such large number of students and Colleges, both Centre and State Govt. should take immediate action to give relief to the students, parents, managements of these Colleges. It is to be mentioned that under PMS Centre Govt is meant to pay 719 crore of the year 2016-17 and 567 crore of the year 2017-18 to State Govt. Apart from this, around 500 crore is more due for the year 2018-19 towards the Centre Govt.
