Celebration of Labour Day in Cambridge International Schools

Jalandhar, May 1, 2015: To express heartfelt gratitude and to convey a  big Thank You to the supporting staff of  the school , Cambridge International Schools celebrated  Labour Day in  the school premises on May 1, 2015. 

To make the day special for them the Kindergarten children of Cambridge International For Girls dressed as different workers and put in the picture the importance of every profession .The helpers of the school conducted a special assembly, where they enthralled the students with their performance.  The celebrations also strengthened the bond between the students and helpers.

Besides various activities , a special assembly was arranged  in Cambridge International School, Chotti Baradari in which a  play based on Labour Day was put up. Students personally expressed their gratitude towards their 'bhaiyas and didis'.

The students of Cambridge International Foundation School also came together to honour the spirit of May Day. A special assembly was organized where various contemporary and global issues pertaining to dignity of labour and pay-parity were discussed. Mridul gave a speech.  Dev Kabir, Sampati, Navdeep and Karan shared their thoughts on Labour Day in Hindi, Punjabi and English. A group song sung by the students added to the joie de vivre and exuberance of the day. There were fun-filled games like tug of war and musical chairs. Gifts and hand-made cards made especially by the students were distributed to the housekeeping and support staff.

Helpers theme was celebrated in the kindergarten section also where the Kindergarten Teachers were dressed up as helpers like: Doctor, Driver, Nurse, Conductor, Carpenter, Vegetable seller etc. They brought the properties of the helpers also and children were supposed to guess them by their dress and the work they were doing. Different types of games were organized for the workers which included Tug of War, Musical Chairs and Kho Kho. They all participated with full enthusiasm and zeal. 

The main motive of the entire celebration was to make students learn the importance of dignity of labour and the need to respect each and every person for whatever they do to enhance the stature of the country. Students also realized that success can only be achieved if all people value each other’s work and decide to contribute in their own individual way, because it is only little drops of water that finally make a large ocean.

A special tea party was arranged by the management for  the supporting staff. Gifts ‘wrapped in love ‘ were presented by the management members to them.

On this occasion, Chairman of the school Ajay Bhatia, Deputy Chairman Deepak Bhatia Chairman Learning Wings J.K Kohli, Dr Brijesh, Nitin Kohli, Academic Director Deepa Dogra and Principal CIS Chotti Baradari , Kiranjoth Dhillon ,Principal CIFS Meenu Huria and Vice Principal Preeti Sharma appreciated the value of hard work displayed by these workers and  emphasized on inculcating the value of hard work in children .They also congratulated the students and members of the staff in making this day ‘special ‘in many ways.
