CBI registers case in connection with procurement of 12 AW-101 VVIP/VIP Helicopters

Jalandhar, March 13, 2013: The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case U/s 120-B r/w 420 IPC and Section 7, 8, 9, 12 and 13 (2) r/w 13 (1) (d) of PC Act, 1988 against the then Chief of Air Staff; four private persons; a Chandigarh-based private company and its then CEO;  a Mohali-based private company,  its then Chairman and then MD; Italy-based private company and its then CEO; a UK-based Company and its then CEO; three  foreign Nationals who allegedly acted as middlemen; a Mauritius-based private company; a  Tunisia-based company and other unknown persons on the allegations of alleged irregularities in the procurement of 12 AW-101 VVIP/VIP Helicopters from UK-based private company.

It is further alleged that in the procurement process of the Helicopters, some persons acted as middlemen and have allegedly influenced the deal in favour of U.K based company. It is also alleged that Italy based company paid commission in terms of several millions of Euros to the middle men. The middlemen from their share of commission allegedly paid huge sums of money to some Indian Nationals in the garb of engineering contracts with two India based companies.

The names of other persond,included in the FIR are Air Chief Marshal (Rtd),  S P Tyagi, the then Chief of Air Staff; Shri Sanjeev Tyagi alias Juli Tyagi;   Rajeev Tyagi alias Docsa Tyagi; Shri Sandeep Tyagi; Gautam Khaitan; Praveen Bakshi, CEO of M/s Aeromatrix Info Solution Pvt Ltd; Satish Bagrodia, Chairman of M/s IDS Infotech Ltd. andPartap K Aggarwal, its MD;   Giuseppe Orsi, CEO, M/s Finmeccanica, Italy; Bruno  Spagnolini, CEO, M/s Agusta Westland, UK;   Guido Ralph Haschke (middle man); Carlo Valentino Ferdinando Gerosa (middle man); Christian Michel (middle man);  M/s Finmeccanica, Italy;  M/s AgustaWestland, UK; M/s IDS,  Tunisia;  M/s Infotech Design System (IDS), Mauritius and two Indian companies - M/s IDS Infotech Ltd., Mohali andM/s Aeromatrix Info Solution Pvt Ltd., Chandigarh and other unknown persons.

Searches are being conducted today at 14 places in Delhi, Gurgaon, Chandigarh and Mohali.
