CBI files chargesheet against 3 for alleged violation of provision of Official Secrets Act

Jalandhar, November 30, 2012:  The Central Bureau of Investigation has today filed a chargesheet against two private persons and a retired officer of Indian Air force U/s 3 of the Official Secrets Act 1923, and 120 B r/w 380 of IPC.

A complaint was received from the Ministry of Defence on August 27, 2012 regarding leakage/ unauthorised dissemination of eight secret documents of Ministry of Defence. During investigation, the alleged role of these private persons and retired defence officer was revealed. Accordingly, they have been chargesheeted.

Some part of investigation is to be further carried out.  Permission for the same has been sought for conducting further investigation U/s 173 (8) Cr. PC from the Court.

CBI arrested a retired officer of the Indian Air Force yesterday in this connection. He is being produced in the Designated Court today. The two private persons arrested on September 4 this year are presently in Judicial Custody.

A complaint U/s 13 of the Official Secrets Act, 1923 has also been filed today against the two private persons and the retired officer of the Indian Air Force and a private firm of Delhi for violation of provisions of Official Secrets Act, 1923.

The public is reminded that the above findings are based on the investigation done by CBI and evidence collected by it.  Under the Indian Law, the accused are presumed to be innocent till their guilt is finally established after a fair trial
