CBI arrests JE (Electrical & Mechanical) for accepting alleged bribe

New Delhi, October 10, 2014: The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Junior Engineer (Electrical & Mechanical) working in the office of Garrison Engineer, Military Engineering Service, Port Blair (Andaman and Nicobar) while accepting an alleged bribe of Rs.Two Lakhs from the complainant.
A case was registered Undere Section 7 of P.C.Act, 1988 against Junior Engineer (Electrical & Mechanical), working in the office of Garrison Engineer, Military Engineering Service, Port Blair on the basis of a complaint of a contractor alleging that he was awarded a contract with Garrison Engineer, Port Blair.  The accused allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs.Two Lakhs from the complainant for processing the bills.
CBI laid a trap and the accused was arrested while demanding & accepting the alleged bribe of Rs.Two Lakhs from the complainant. Searches were conducted at the official and residential premises of the accused.
The arrested accused was produced today before the Duty Magistrate, Port Blair and was remanded to Judicial Custody.
Further investigation is continuing.
