CBI arrests commandant of railway protection special force and PA to regional passport officer in separate cases of bribery

New Delhi, September 15, 2014:  The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Commandant of Railway Protection Special Force, 10th Battalion, Dhanbad (Jharkhand) for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs.20,000 from two complainants.

 A case was registered U/s 7 of PC Act, 1988 on September 14, 2014 on the basis of two separate complaints from 02 constables of RPSF, 10th Battalion, Dhanbad wherein alleging that the Commandant, RPSF, 10th Battalion, Dhanbad had demanded bribe of Rs.10,000 each from said two complainants of RPSF for passing favourable orders for regularisation of their periodical medical examination (PME) period and payments of their pending Salary Arrears of PME sick period of approx. 08 months.

CBI laid a trap and caught red handed the Commandant, RPSF, Dhanbad while demanding & accepting bribe of Rs. 20,000 from the Complainants yesterday evening at his official residence at Dhanbad.

Searches were conducted at his residence in Dhanbad & New Delhi and his office at Dhanabad which yielded to recovery of cash of Rs.Five Lakhs (approx.) and Rs.37 Lakhs(approx.) in bank deposits.

The arrested accused was produced today before the Special Court Judge for CBI Cases, Dhanbad and remanded to Judicial Custody. The matter for further remand has been fixed on 16.09.2014 by the Court.

In another, CBI has arrested today a PA to Regional Passport Officer, Guwahati while she was demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.2,000 from the Complainant for clearing his passport.

It was alleged that the Complainant had applied for fresh passport on 20th March, 2014.  For the same, he visited the office of the RPO, Guwahati to pursue the delivery of his passport and was told to contact the PA to RPO. On meeting, she demanded Rs.2,000 for clearing the complainant’s passport and  early delivery to him. She also asked the complainant to bring the bring on September 15, 2014 in her office. A case was registered U/s 7 of PC Act, 1988.

CBI laid a trap and caught red handed the PA to RPO while demanding and accepting Rs.2,000 from the complainant.

Further investigation is continuing.
