CATTLE FAIR: Begins from Nov 16 to Dec 21

Chandigarh, November 15, 2012: Animal Husbandry Department starts Cattle fairs from November 16 to December 21, 2012 in all district of the state to improve economic status of the farmers and select best animals. These cattle fairs would be organised with the help of Rural Development Department Punjab and the various breed and milking competitions would be organized in the cattle fairs.

Disclosing this here today Director Animal Husbandry Dr. H.S. Sandha said that in these cattle fairs and milk competitions different breeds would be participate i.e. horses, cows, goats, lambs and poultry. Dr. Sandha said only cows, buffalos and goats would participate in milking competition.

Dr. Sandha further said that district level first cattle fair would be inaugurated by Animal Husbandry Minister Sarwan Singh Phillaur and Chief Parliamentary Secretary Desh Raj Dhugga at Village Charaik in district Moga on November 16, 2012.

Dr. Sandha said that Animal Husbandry Department would be spend Rs. 3.98 crore for the organisation of cattle fairs. The department would spent Rs. 9 Lac for every district in the state and Rs. 2 crore for state level.

Dr. Sandha further said that the scheduled of cattle fairs would be start from Roopnagar and Moga from November 16 to 17, Jalandhar and Sri Mukatsar Sahib from November 19 to 20, Tarn Taran and Faridkot from November 22 to 23, SBS Nagar and Ferozepur from November 26 to 27, Pathankot and Bathinda from November 29 to 30, Hoshiarpur and Patiala from December 3 to 4, Mohali and Barnala from December 6 to 7, Fatehgarh Sahib and Ludhiana from December 10 to 11, Sri Amritsar Sahib and Mansa from December 13 to 14, Gurdaspur and Sangrur from December 17 to 18, Kapurthala and Fazilka from 20 to 21 respectively.
