Kila Raipur(Ludhiana), February 5, 2016: The carnival continued to attract thousands of spectators as the sun brightened the open air stadium on the penultimate day of the 80TH MRF Kila Raipur Sports Festival here on Friday.
The crowd was enthralled to see the camels dance to the beats of the drums and Gatka performers and Malwai Giddha performers raised the tempo such that the crowd was asking for more.
Athletics, hockey and Cycling race were the top competitive sports played today.
MRF Muscleman contest had 3 strongmen getting the MRF Strongman prize.
Bhagwant Memorial Gold Cup Hockey – Men saw some revetting hockey being played, possibly inspired by the ongoing Hockey India League. Here Kila Raipur beat 103 Sikh Allies by 3 goals to 2 in a keenly contested game and Hans Kalan Club made light of SPC Kurukshetra beathing them 4 goals to 1. Chanjali beat Ropad by 5 goals to 1 in a onesided match, but the most exciting match of the day was the Govt School sports wing versus Mohali where eventually the Govt School won by 9 goals to 8 in via penalty strokes
MRF has once again taken the Title Sponsorship of the Games and Maruti Suzuki, for the 8th year in a row is a cosponsor of the event. Zee Action came in as a co-sponsor of the event.
This year many Indian and international news and information media houses are covering the event, spreading the word far and wide.
1 Mile Cycle race Boys U- 19 saw Harsimranjeet Singh finished ahead of Amandeep Kamboj and Sahil all from Ludhiana
In Athletics 100 Mtr Primary boys saw Rajedeep Singh Jartaoli beating Tarnpreet Sign – Kila Raipur and Gursevak Singh – Sanya Kalan and
Under-19 Final 100 mtr Harshdeep Singh – Patiala lead the way beating Princedeep Sign – Sangrur who finished ahead of Gurdev Singh – Sangrur
Under 19 Girls – 100 mtr Finals it was Bhatinda all the way as Jaspreet Kaur finished ahead of Veerpal Kaur Amanpreet Kaur – Ludhiana
In Under 19 - Girls – 400 mtr saw Prachi from Patiala – 1:00:60 beat Veerpal Kaur – Bhantinda – 1:00:70 and Amanpreet Kaur – Ludhiana – 1:02:04
Baazigars enthralled the audience once again with amazing feats, like bending the rod with ones throat to holding a ladder in the mouth and balancing.
Youngsters – 12 to 18 showed some awesome skills on horses, from salutes to jumping over fire laden bars.
If you thought humans can dance well, check out the horse and camel, who would dance to the music and the audience applause and encouragement said it all.
