Kila Raipur/Ludhiana, February 3, 2018: The carnival continued to attract thousands of spectators as the sun brightened the open air stadium on the penultimate day of the 82nd Kila Raipur Sports Festival here on Saturday.

An almost Full house attendance at the stadium topped the action of the day. Second to none the audience was anticipating much action, and they went home satisfied at the end of the day.

Athletics, hockey, Kabaddi, MRF Tractor Tyre, Elephant and Camel race were the top competitive sports played today.

In Long jump Narinder Singh from Punjab Police leaped a clean 7.15 M to take top honours way ahead of the second placed Gurdas Singh from Ludhiana. Renu Ludhiana took the top honors in women's long jump with a jump of 5.75 m ahead of Jaspreet Kaur Ludhiana.

In 400 m women, Veerpal Kaur from Bhatinda beat Prachi from Patiala and Twinkal Chodhary form Jalandhar even as 400 m men’s honors were won by Arshdeep Singh from Patiala, who finished ahead of Jagmeet Singh of Jalandhar and Amrit Singh from Sangrur.

Bhagwant Memorial Gold Cup Hockey – Men saw some reverting hockey being played, possibly inspired by the ongoing Hockey India League. Grewal Hockey Club Kila Riapur – Saharanpur – 3:2, Rumi beat Jarkhad Hockey Club – 2:1 and Gholia Khurd Beat Ataa Gujri Collage Fatheghar Sahib – 4:2. Await some scintillating display of field hockey tomorrow to find out the eventual winner.

The MRF Tractor tyre rolling event, a brand new event excited many and had as many as 20 entrants. A simple looking task to rolling the Tractor tyre, was indeed a tough one. The finals of the event will be held tomorrow.

Baazigars enthralled the audience once again with amazing feats, like weight lifting with Ear and ones throat to holding a Plough in the mouth and balancing.

If you thought humans can dance well, check out the camel, who would dance to the music and the audience applause and encouragement said it all.

Olympian Gold Medalist 1984 Mr. Alexi Grewal from USA, Partap Singh Bajwa Former President PPCC & Member Rajya Sabha was the chief guest today showed great interest in the sports activities. HE reiterated the commitment to take the message of the festival places and provide better infrastructure to help people in Kila Raipur and around enjoy the Festival at a larger scale.
