Una, June 25, 2014: For conducting cardiac surgeries, the trans radial (wrist) routes are the safest options for almost all kind of heart patients, said Dr RK Jaswal, Director, Cardiology at Fortis Hospital Mohali while addressing doctors at continuing medical education (CME) held on Trans Radial Interventions: Clinical Benefits are Real Clinical Evidence in 2014 today evening.

Dr Jaswal said studies show that surgeons opting for radial route operations, who have operated large numbers of patients, have better and safer outcomes owing to their tremendous experience and skill.

For Dr Jaswal, visiting Una was like a homecoming as he belongs to this part of the hill state, and has always held his roots very close to his heart. Dr Jaswal said it was a matter of pride for him to come back home and impart learning about latest from the field of cardiology to doctors of Una.

Elaborating on the technique he said, “We always try and spread awareness among people about ways of preventing heart disease. However, when there is no option but to carry out a procedure, we make sure patients receive the best possible treatment. It’s here that trans radial interventions have completely changed the script. They are safer, promise better results and quicker recovery – the only catch is these have to be performed by a highly experienced operator”.

The renowned cardiologist has over 20-years experience in the field of interventional cardiology. He has the largest experience in entire north India of more than 14,000 transradial invasive procedures and over 7,000 transradial interventions, including complex transradial coronary interventions.

Recently, Dr Wadhwa presented two complex Coronary PCI cases during a paper presentation at the prestigious forum of CIT at China. He also delivered a lecture on Transradial Intervention at same platform. Dr Jaswal was honored with the prestigious 2013 MIDI Management Excellence Award.
