Capt Amarinder gets tumultuous welcome in Dakha

Dakha, October 17, 2019: Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh got a tumultuous welcome during a roadshow he led in support of the party candidate Capt Sandeep Singh Sandhu here today.
Starting from Chhapaar, Capt Amarinder’s cavalcade of cars, tractors and motorcycles crisscrossed the constituency with people standing alongside the roads forming a continuous chain and hailing and cheering the Chief Minister.
Mounted on an open vehicle flanked by Capt Sandhu on one side and the local MP Ravneet Singh Bittu on the other, Capt Amarinder waived back to the masses who were waving at him. He was showered with flower petals on the way.
During his interaction with people on the way, he urged them to vote and support Capt Sandhu, who, he said, was the best candidate to represent people of Dakha. He said, the Congress candidate had twelve years of experience having worked both in the party and the government.
The Chief Minister’s cavalcade was stopped at several places where he made brief speeches. The overwhelming response by the public particularly the youth, with whom he interacted frequently, impressed Capt Amarinder so much that he said, he later said, he was touched by such enthusiasm and support.
Capt Amarinder said, he was touched by the warmth and the hospitality with which the people of Dakha welcomed him during the roadshow. He expressed confidence that people of Dakha will vote for the Congress and elect Capt Sandhu as their MLA.
Talking to reporters during the roadshow he dismissed any possibility of filmstar turned politician Sunny Deol making any impact in Dakha. He said, it is the MLA like Capt Sandhu who will work for the development of the area and not someone like Deol who may come and go back the same time.
During the roadshow, Capt Amarinder stopped at village Sarabha to pay homage to Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha. “A true patriot and a freedom fighter, he is great inspiration for all of us and we all must follow the path of such great martyrs”, he said, after garlanding his statue.
Capt Amarinder was accompanied by Congress general secretary in charge for Punjab Ms Asha Kumari, MPs Dr Amar Singh and Mohammad Sadiq, former MLAs Jassi Khangura, Milkiat Singh Dakha, former MP Amrik Singh Aliwal, Major Singh Bhaini and others.
