Ludhiana, December 2, 2015: With less than a month left for Christmas and New Year, PCTE began its celebrations with the cake mixing ceremony. The celebrations witnessed the joy and excitement of students for the cake mixing. This stirring ceremony is part of an age-old Christmas tradition of cake mixing. It was started around 17th century in Europe.
The ingredients like raisins, black currants, glazed dates, cherries, plums and nuts like cashews, pistachios and almonds were mixed with generous amounts of liquor and will be stored in a container until the festive season. The ingredients of the festive fruit cake are mixed with wine and liquor in advance so that the ingredients can develop aroma and taste. The longer the mix is kept for, the tastier will be the cake, said Prof. Anirban Gupta, Dean PCTE-IHM.
Dr. K.N.S Kang Director General of the college said, “It is important for the students to be familiar with various religion and culture so that they love and respect all the communities and cultures”. He further added that “We want the students to imbibe qualities that would foster academic brilliance, physical development and social responsibility”.
