CABINET MINISTER OP SONI INAUGURATES TWO PROJECTS & LAYS FOUNDATION STONE OF ONE

Ludhiana, January 26, 2019: Punjab School Education, Freedom Fighter and Food Processing Minister Mr OP Soni, on Friday inaugurated two development projects and laid the foundation stone of one project today. Mr Soni today inaugurated a flyover at Manupur head works on Southern bypass near Doraha and an ultra modern sports facility at Blind School, Chandigarh Road, here.

While speaking to media persons on the occasion, Mr OP Soni stated that with the start of this flyover, the traffic problem of Ludhiana city would be checked to a large extent as this flyover is located on road that connects National Highway 44 (GT Road) with National highway 95 (Ludhiana-Ferozepur Road).

Member of Parliament from Ludhiana Mr Ravneet Singh Bittu said that there is no shortage of funds with the Punjab government when it comes to carrying out overall development of the state.

Later, the Cabinet Minister also inaugurated a sports facility for visually impaired at Blind School located on Chandigarh Road, here. This stadium has a gymnasium, activity room, football ground, and a multipurpose ground with facilities for cricket and athletics. This stadium has been constructed by Markfed with a cost of Rs 40 lakh.

Under the Accessible India Campaign/Sugam Bharat Campaign, Mr OP Soni later also laid the foundation stone of construction of ramps, railing along stairs and disabled friendly toilets in 42 government buildings of the district for the benefit of people with special needs. This foundation stone was also laid on the premises of Blind School, Jamalpur, here. He informed that 42 such government buildings have been identified in the district, where all these facilities are to be provided. The total cost of this project would be Rs 15 crore.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included former Minister Mr Tej Prakash Singh Kotli, Deputy Commissioner Mr Pradeep Kumar Agrawal, ADC (D) Dr Shena Aggarwal, besides several others.
