BVP Vocational Training Centre (Knitwear) inaugurated

BVP Vocational Training Centre (Knitwear) being inaugurated at Ludhiana on Saturday.

Ludhiana, December 13, 2014: BVP Vocational Training Centre (Knitwear) run under corporate social responsibility of NSIC was inaugurated by Ravindra Nath, CMD, NSIC today.

Speaking on this occasion, Ravindra Nath said that Ludhiana is also called Manchester of industries especially in the field of hosiery industries. There are more than 15,000 Micro, Small and Medium hosiery units in and around Ludhiana and 4 to 5 lacs skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled labour is employed directly or indirectly in this industry. It has been found that hosiery units are facing manpower problems due to lack of availability of skilled/semi-skilled manpower. This training centre will cater to the needs of hosiery industry by providing them skilled labour trained on the machines installed at the centre. Ravindra Nath also distributed artificial limbs, tricycle, wheel chairs, and hearing aids to 22 physically handicapped persons.
