BUSINESS & INDUSTRIAL: Government must change its attituds towards industry

Rajeev Jain

Punjab State Power Corporation Limited imposed  4- weekly off day on Induction / Arc Furnace & 3 weekly of day on General Industry falling under Cat -2 and Cat -3

Industry which is facing labour shortage and is passing through recession and is working hard to sustain its existence has been badly hit by the acute Power shortage.

This move of PSPCL is strongly opposed, which is against the Industry and General Public.

PSPSL has increased tariff of electricity by 12.8% which too high and that to from retrospective effect from 1-4-2012 which will result in closure and migration Industry to other states.

Further Gensets are used to produce electricity by industry in order to survive attracts in coming Tax. Huge quantity of diesel is used for running generators which act as direct cost in production. Government does not refund VAT on the use of Diesel in industry which is another killing effect, whereas  restrictions are imposed  in producing power and insist the industry to use mandatorily sound proof canopies on Gensets in designated industrial areas as well   , which add huge cost and burden on the Entrepreneurs.

We request the Government to change its attitude against industry. Positive attitude should be taken and to take immediate measures to give relief to industry for its existence, as the Industry is backbone of economy of Punjab.
