Ludhiana, June 10, 2017: Punjab Congress president Sunil Jakhar has said the present bureaucracy in the state would have to change its style of functioning and behaviour as now there was the Congress rule in Punjab. In a very categorical tone, Jakhar said if any bureaucrat unnecessarily harassed any of the party workers or common men then he should remain ready for his transfer.
Jakhar visited here for the first time after becoming president to PPCC. He was interacting with the party workers at Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan to get their feedback for coming elections to Municipal Corporation Ludhiana.
Jakhar said the ruling Capt Amarinder Singh government had one point agenda of bringing state on the track of progress for creating more employment generation opportunities for the youth and also making Punjab a drug-free state. He said the present state government was serious of waiving off loans of the farmers and work on the same was already in progress.
Speaking on the occasion, Ravneet Singh Bittu, MP, said the party workers were backbone of the party and they would be given due regard. He called upon the party workers to start working for the forthcoming Municipal Corporation polls and also for Lok Sabha elections to be held in the year 2019.
The local party leaders apprised Jakhar of the party activities taking place at the district-level.
Earlier, Jakhar was given a warm welcome at Neelon Bridge. Jakhar was brought to Guru Nanak Bhawan amid slogans of 'Congress party zindabad", shouted by the party men. MLAs, district presidents (urban and rural) and other office-bearers of the party were present at Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan.
